Would this be an ok deal?

I'm considering picking up a project car for the winter.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...lor=&cardist=6

Overall the body looks fair to me other than the dent on the passenger side, but it probably needs paint. The interior looks good from the pictures. But it sounds like the engine definitely needs to be rebuilt. I'd be doing all the labor (except the machine work which I don't have the equipment for, boring cyls, grinding crank etc.) myself.

What do you all think of this car at this price? Are they asking too much considering all the work/parts involved?

I know I could get a much better car for a couple grand more, but I'm just wondering if this price is too high for what i'd be getting.

Also, if someone could run a carfax on it for me, I'd be eternally grateful : 2G1FP22P2S2107881

I would keep looking, unless you have 3K to burn away.

he's already got an LS1 z28, evidently he just wants it as something to tinker with. I say go for it, restore it, and sell it for 5k.

i didnt look at its location, but if its close to you i'd go look at it.

even depending on how nice it is,im not sure if I would want to pay 3 grand for a car that needs a motor. its worth a look though.

Re: Would this be an ok deal?

if he just did the basic build up on the engine i'm sure he could get away with only putting 1k into it, then he could turn around and sell it for 5-6k. hey, atleasy he's making a little money

It's not 3k ,it's $2300, go show up with 2k cash and don't come up if he says no leave your number a walk. It's only $300,bet your phone will be ringing when you get home.
