Will my ignition keys still work if I....
Will my ignition keys still work if I....
A while back my turn signal broke off and took out a bunch of other plactic in the column. I have the column from my 93z donor car and would like to just swap it in. I don't expect any wiring problems and have all the schematics if I do but I'm mainly concerned on whether my key will still work from the broken column. It looks like I will have to swap out the cylinder due to the cut of the key (won't turn) but what about the resistor in the key. Is it matched to something in the column or what?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Will my ignition keys still work if I....
The ign cylinder (stuff in the column) only provides the contacts that "read" both sides of the resistor chip in your key. So long as the same key is used with the same PASS system you shouldn't have any problems
Re: Will my ignition keys still work if I....
No it doesn't match 'something in the column' it matches the VATS module in the dash.. [so the old ign cyl and key will work if you keep it in the same car]
