will my fuel gauge work without PCM?
just wondering....don't have a PCM anymore
|
The PCM has nothing to do with the fuel gauge AFAIK.

o.k.
What else will work? nothing? water, amp, oil? If not then I need to order some gauges asap |
Only the tach and the speedo are driven by the stock PCM. Both can be connected without the PCM. Coolant, system volts and oil pressure are direct wired from sensors, not the PCM.

so fred I have an old harness.......I can just find the wires and plugs I need and hook up the other gauges? If so that would be good for now, I don't need the tach or speedo
Thanks for the help guys |
shoebox hope you can help me again....
What did I need to do in order to make the stock alt. work? I know you said wire a resistor to a switched 12v but how much was it? If anyone can help thanks |

In the meantime, if it's a 93-97, read this: Courtesy of Shoebox 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles |

This is why we need to know the basic info. Up through 1997 the level sensor is wired directly to the fuel level gauge. In 1998 they changed the setup, and the level sensor signal requires the PCM to interface with the fuel level gauge. Generally, it makes sense to keep the stock PCM (in addition to the aftermarket ECU) for functions like the speedometer, tachometer, and starting in 1998 the fuel level gauge. |
