Wierd SES light...

Ok, the car has been sitting in the garage for a week. It's cold outside.

The only things I've done to it are - 1, Change the wipers. 2, mess with the stereo. 3, raise the car up and take off the support that is supposed to catch the driveshaft if it falls. It was rubbing the exhaust and making a TERRIBLE noise.

Drove it today, and the SES light was on as soon as I left the driveway. When I stop at a light, the car gets down to about 650RPM - idle while in drive with foot on brake. SES light goes off. If I put it into Neutral, the RPMs raise by 150-200, the light comes back on.

The only thing I noticed right away was that the temperature didn't rise above the halfway mark during an entire 40 minutes of driving, as a matter of fact it stayed between the 1/4 and 1/2 in the same position the entire time once it warmed up. The other thing I noticed was that I think I can hear the fan switch on and run when the SES light comes on, but I'm not totally positive.

I took it to Auto Zone and it didn't show any codes. The guy said it usually always shows a 12, and it didn't even show that.

Any suggestions before I go out and take a closer look tommorrow?

I'm confused - didn't think auto zone could read obdI codes? Did the scanner power up?

He used a key thing, not a scanner. Maybe that's why it didn't work.

I forgot to say that I also fixed my fog lights, which had blown bulbs since I rebuilt the engine like 4 months ago.

the key at autozone only works on 93 and earlier F-bodys, 94s are different

you need to find someone with a real scanner
