Its on my 01 TA, its the part that actually the metal buckle that is attached to the belt, on the left side the buckle is unableto move around but on the passenger side it moves around more with some type of adjustment. I guess it must be for use with kids or baby seat, but I wouldn't know how to use it if it is. I really hate that passenger one cause when I hit bumps it moves around and makes all sorts of noise, just one more rattle my car doesn't need.

Yeah, my front buckles are different too! The driver's side one is just a hard molded piece of plastic that the belt goes through, and the buckle is free to slide up/down, but on the passenger's side there's like a "gate" I'll call it, that will pinch down on the belt and hold it in place if you pull the lap-belt snug.

Then the two belts in the back are different again.....they're the old style where it's a big metal buckle with a sliding metal bar that will tighten down on the belt and lock it in place.

Weird I guess.....4 seats, and 3 different types of buckles!?

I've noticed that right now only 98+ 4th gen have noticed this. All I know is that my front 2 don't look like the back 2.

Well the front and back were always different

My car was built at the very end of 97 as a 98 model so maybe they didnt start using the new buckle on the front driver side yet?

I have power driver seat if that makes any difference
