The security light on my 93 z28 stays on even while its running .what would cause this,and how would i fix it?Thanks in advance for any help.

The resistor on your key is probably wore down and you'll probably need to get a new key.

 

Do i have to worry about this anytime soon.like as in making the car not start?because right now it starts and runs.its just that the light stays on.And also were do i get new keys from?

 

mine just satretd to come on randomly the other day, happened 2x. wont start when its one. but wait a few min it would work...

your local GM dealer should be able to supply you with one. I believe they are kinda pricey though

 

it's not pricey at all to get a new key

find out what code u have .. there is a site that lists what ohm goes to what code..

bring it to a key cutting place and get it cut... no $150 for a new key

 

Mine does this if you don't push the key in all the way.

 

i can ride around all day with my security light on i figure its my key car still turns on and such

 

I had a Monte Carlo that I drove for over two years with this light on. Never had any problems.

 

to be safe that it will keep starting, unplug the connector for VATS under the steering column, as long is that is open(since you are in failsafe) it will keep starting
