Why do you see so many used LT1 superchargers?
Why do you see so many used LT1 superchargers?
It seems that there are always lots of used LT1 superchargers for sale here and elsewhere.
Im sure they deliver great gains and if this is the case why do so many people use them then sell them. HP is not a bad thing.
I have read that they are very tough on the stock bottom end and can lead to problems.
It just seems odd to me that one would spend thousands to just turn around and sell at a a loss.
Anyone want to chime in?

Yes, they are hard on the bottom end, especially when people drive the **** out of their cars.
There could be many reasons for the used market of blowers. Such as someone blew their engine, and needs money for a rebuild. Other possibilities are someone wants to sell their car, and the car won't go for a significant amount more with the blower, so sell the blower and then sell the car.

You rarely see the Ford guys selling their blowers probobly because the engines low compression is much more blower friendly.

The Mustangs outsold F-bodies 25 to 1... that's why we don't have one anymore
At least until 07
I'd say people throw them on otherwise stock engines and blow something up a lot.

I agree. Blowing the motor is mabey the number one reason. Also I dont think having a blower on a stock bottom end car is what everyone expects. Cant go much higher than 8 psi and with the compression I imagine it doesnt take long to go boom either because the tune wasnt dialed in or fuel issues.
