Question Whistling, spinning sound from rear end?

Wheh you start the car and when you turn it off, there is a whistling whinding sound from the rear end, that when you turn off the car, you can hear whinding down after the engine stops. Anyone else have that or know what it is? It doesnt cause any problems, but just very curious of what it is.

When I was in highschool i went through like 3 fuel pumps in a year...(my fault running it out of gas all the time) it would start to whine everytime before it went out. Best to get it replaced soon or carry around a hammer with you lol

so if the sound is only there when it turns on (for like 5 seconds and turns off for like 5 seconds), it sounds almost like a motor turning on. Also if it does go out, how does the hammer work? i know you hit something to get it working but what do you hit?

When mine was was on the tail end of going out, it didnt want to start. I beat lightly with a rubber mallet on the gas tank and it would start...but eventually the pump will completely stop working just a temp. fix.
