I keep hearing people say their car needs a tune or it's untuned and so forth.

What exactly is a tune and what does it do? Is it the same thing as a tune-up?

 

Its mainly just getting the air/fuel ratios correct in order to provide maximum horsepower. You can also use a "tune" to eliminate certain sensors such as rear 02 sensors if you're running an offroad y-pipe. Its not like a "tune up" where you would replace sparkplugs or anything like that...genearllly when people say "tune" they are refering to a computer tune. Ya know, you coulda just asked me.
