What's a stock intake worth?

1. Would it be a good idea to sell my stock intake, or should I hang onto it?

2. If I sell, what price should I put on it? I was thinking about including my K&N filter with it, it's only about 2000 miles old.

And the stock intake assemblies were the same on both the T/A and the Z28 in 1994, right?

If you include the K&N I'd say about 5 bucks over the used cost of a K&N.
But you never know, I've seen some stuff on ebay that I thought was worthless go for a lot.

Re: What's a stock intake worth?

Well, I've tried looking around but couldn't find one to use as an example......I took a shot at GMPartsDirect.com to see what a new one was selling for, and it's $153.96, but that's including the intake elbow. So it's the elbow, the clamps, the duct, and the box w/filter.

I'm just trying to sell the duct, clamps, and box w/ the K&N filter. Is $120 out of the question?

Yeah i'd say $120 is out the question. I bought a complete K&N CAI for $115 shipped. I'd say if you got $25+shipping out of it you are doing good. The problem is everybody has one and nobody wants one. Its all about supply and demand.

Well, Let me put it this way. Why would someone buy a stock intake with K&N when the can get a really nice used FIPK, Moroso, G2, etc. etc. for the same price.

I've seen them go on ebay for like 40 bucks max with everything from elbow to box and I thought that was alot.

Re: What's a stock intake worth?

It's in real good condition, and the K&N is practically new, which cost me $46.....so I'll go for $70 for the whole thing and see what happens.

Seriously, you might as well hang onto it in case you ever decide to de-mod you car and sell it. I try to hold onto as many of my stock parts as possible in case I ever part with my Z.

No, I'm not crazy. But thanks for your concern.

The purpose of this thread was to ASK for advice on this, and then I'd share what I thought I could POSSIBLY get.......I'm relatively inexperienced in this area and I have no clue what parts go for nowadays.

If anyone else wants to add in their polite .02, be my guest. Thanks.

I don't think you'll get your $70 out of it. That one guy was offering his for free. I'd sell mine in a heart beat for $20 and i have a K&N filter for mine too.

Re: What's a stock intake worth?

I clicked on this thread thinking "stock intake manifold" not just stock intake. I couldn't fathom anyone bothering to sell that; it's honestly worthless. The only stock intake that get any money out of them are the Firehawk, WS6, and SS intakes (pretty much in that order too). Ditch the intake, sell the filter, and be done with it.

You'd be surprised. My aftermarket SS ram air intake setup is on ebay right now and up to $150.

In the second thread, the guy's asking $20 for the actual assembly and $20 for the used K&N.....so would I be safe in asking $40 for the whole thing?

Re: What's a stock intake worth?

Ask what you feel it is worth, the worst thing that can happen is that a potential buyer can say no or chew you down a few bucks.

Re: What's a stock intake worth?

Why not start it at $1 with no reserve and see what it goes for?
That way you'd be pretty sure it would sell, and you won't have to relist it.
If it makes it past $20, celebrate!
