why is an Lt-1 engine, an LT-1 engine?? i thought this was because the computer chip in the car was an LT-1 computer chip. is this correct? if not why is it what it is?
also does this go the same for an LS-1??

LT1 is nothing more than GM production code or RPO. There is no rhyme or reason for LT1, LS6, L98, etc...

 

exactly, it's just like a 4G63, B18D, B16D for a honda/Mitsu engine; they're all just the Production model numbers.

But if you're asking what makes it different than a LS1 or an older 350; then lots.

 

Be carefull cause LT1's are different from LT-1's. Just letting you know.
