What's the group 2 Options Package in a 1995 Z28
What's the group 2 Options Package in a 1995 Z28
G'day Camaro Forumites
I'm hoping you can help me understand a little more about a Z28 I am currently thinking about buying over here.
It's a 1995 Z28 automatic convertible. The documentation that come with it says it was supplied with the "manufacturer preferred group 2 option package". It then goes to list a whole lot of stuff including "performance ride and handling" suspension package, remote keyless entry, power everything, A/C, etc.
A couple of questions
1) is the suspension any different to a standard Z28?
2) Was traction control part of the group 2 package?
Any typical chronic problems that I should look for? The vehicle has only about 15,000 mile on it and has been garaged for all of its life so it is in sweet condition.
Thanks in Advance for your help.
Peter

I have the original dealer order sheet for my 96Z, and it has Group #2 on it. This is what it lists:
Elec speed control w/resume
Remote hatch release
Fog lamps
Power door lock system
Power windows w/dr's exp down
Elec twin remote mirrors
Leather steering wheel
Remote keyless entry system
4-way manual driver seat adjuster
Theft deterrent alarm system
To answer your questions, the seller might be referring to the suspension as opposed to a V6, or it's just a general statement. The only suspension upgrade to the Z28 is the 1LE package, which would make it an SS.
Traction control was a seperate option. Look for RPO code NW9 on the driver side door. Plus there is a big black plastic cover over the driver side valve cover in the engine bay (can't miss it).
If you are interested, RPO code GU5 means you have the performance rear end option that came with the automatic cars. That means you have 3.23 gears. If it is GU2, then your gears are 2.73.
Having only 15000 miles, I doubt there is anything mechanically wrong with the car. But I would test drive it, listen for anything strange and feel for any vibration. Also make sure the rear end doesn't clunk (tells you the previous driver was doing burnouts or something and broke the rear end). Make sure the transmission shifts nice and smooth, and that the steering is straight and tight. Are you buying this from a private party? If so, ask the owner if you can bring it by the Chevy dealer and have them check it out for you.

Was there a factory SS offering in 1995?
When I purchased my 95 1LE, the dealer told me the option packages could not be chosen if the 1LE was taken. I believe neither the T-Top nor convertible could be chosen. The "performance rear" was mandatory.
