What's a fair price for these gears?

There's a guy on another board who is willing to sell my his 3.90 gears, and posi carrier for $400.00 is that an ok price? I got no idea?? This is for an 8.5" 10 bolt.

I originally did post this in classic tech, but since this forum gets more traffic and since we all have rear ends in our cars I figured it was better off here...

Sounds high to me, but I don't know much about the 8.5" stuff. How used is this stuff? Mileage, track passes, behind an auto, manual, auto w/ trans brake, etc.?

Ahh I'll try to work him down then.
These would be from a '76 bird just like mine. Also, he apparently didnt use it too often since it was infront of a TH350 and they are steep gears for a non OD car. He had them in for a few months and then went with a 3.42's.
Keep in mind, that I don't have a posi rear end so I'm buying the gears and the posi unit as well.
