What should my dad sell his SS for?
What should my dad sell his SS for?
My dad is going to sell his 2001 A4 Camaro SS. It is fully loaded and onyx black. No extended slp options. It has 10,000 miles on it and has never been driven in the rain or snow. Near perfect condition and 100% stock. Just wanting to get an idea of what to sell it for. Thanks guys.

Re: What should my dad sell his SS for?
First off, thanks for giving me a decent reply but I already checked kbb and edmunds but those seem pretty low to me. Just wanted some advice within the community. Instead I got a bunch of jacka**'s offering no advice at all. This is general tech and posts are counted. I dont believe either one of you deserve a post for that. Go to the lounge if you want to act like morons.
Re: What should my dad sell his SS for?
lol dont get ur panties in a wad....check out ebay, autotrader, and other magazines for prices people are paying for them. and if all else fails just put it up for $25k OBO. Someone is bound to reply
Re: What should my dad sell his SS for?
KBB is what most people go by when looking at a car, you may be able to get a little more since it was well taken care of but you cant stray too far from KBB value other wise you are gunna be stuck with the car. KBB says my car is worth 12k and i have almost 80k miles on it. So i bet you could prob get 17 easy. Too much more then that and its gunna be tough unless like i said your selling it to an enthusiast who can appreciate the car. According to KBB for my area your car is worth $17,543 which isnt bad. Our cars do not hold value well, so dont count on them as an investment. Thats why i would never buy a camaro new since they lose about 60% of there value in just 4 years.
The only camaro's that are starting to show there value are the 1st gens and some early second gens. Other then that you can buy almost any year camaro for under 10k.

Re: What should my dad sell his SS for?
Ya kbb came up just over 18k. Damn my dad is gonna be pissed. He payed 28k for it 2 years ago. If he is only gonna get 18 for it im thinking of selling my TA and paying the difference so I can have the SS.
Re: What should my dad sell his SS for?
sounds like two things are clear. One, you cant take a joke. And two, from your posts it looks like you know about what its worth from infromation you gathered from websites dedicated to estimating car value. If we dont deserve a post to make someone laugh, you certainly dont deserve one for asking such a stupid question, esp. one that you already know the answer (or multiple answers to).
Re: What should my dad sell his SS for?
a fair price is a price a buyer and seller agree on. what does your dad feel that car is worth to him what would he buy it for? KBB is a guide it does not mean a damn thing. there is not print check botton on kbb site. the car is only worth as much as some one will pay for it. I see this every day at work day in and day out. for example in march of 03 i went to a dealer only corvette sale to buy my self a z06 wanted an 02 black on black. I paying more for my car that day then any other 02 z06 but it was the only black on black one. Did black paint cost any more? no would kbb say it is worth any more becasue it is black no? but me and the guy i was bidding against thought it was worth more then all the other colors. so did i get screwed. I paid more for mine that day then any else did i dont think so i paid what i felt was a fair price. also look at the ford gt window sticker is like 150k yet the sell in the 200's ford made the car and does not even think it is worth 200k so did all the people who paid that f them selves? he should sell his car for what it is worth to him and if it does not sell then it is worth more to him then any body else and he should keep it.

....Zach, They to figure out what you think its worth and then ask more.
More as in 'a lot more'. Just remember that you can always come down in
price but you can't go up. Camaro's and Firebird's don't hold their value, true.
BUT people purchase cars with EMOTION not common sense. When someone
calls to buy it just say "You have to come over and see it & drive it, you won't
believe how good of shape its in. DON'T TALK PRICE OVER THE PHONE. Price
doesn't sell cars, EMOTION does. Get the buyer over to see it, talk about all
the features and benifits that apply to THIS particular person. Remember that
you have a used car and that there is NO used car factory. There is NO other car exactally like it. Then have the person drive it. You insist on driving it out of your driveway then let the buyer take over {this puts YOU more in control}. Then talk price.....
I bought my '94 Trans Am in the year 2000, so it was 6 years old. I was in the car business on/off for 10 years. I know how to buy &
not buy a car. BUT I paid probably two grand MORE than I should have! Why???
Because I got EMOTIONALLY attached to it! I feel in love with it the minute I
saw it and I wanted it and I wanted it right then and there. I had just gotten a settlement and didn't really CARE if I was paying to much. Plus your Dad's car has really low miles so that'll help although in my opinion the way a car has been treated is worth far more than the milage. I'm hard on my cars, a person would be better off buying something that had 100,000 miles on it and taken care of then something that I'd owned for and had 10,000 miles on it. But most people don't look at it that way. Low milage helps sell a car. I just went to KBB.com. Yep, sure enough, 20 g's asking price on a lot. 18 g's asking price private party. They DON'T hold there value! Guess what??? SO WHAT!!! There is a sucker born every minute. So depends on how bad someone wants it and how bad Dad needs to sell it. Last year I was concidering getting a new Corvette, on line dealers were selling brand new ones for what private party's were asking for their's....... Real Estate is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Cars are EMOTION, EMOTION, EMOTION..... {well of course real estate is emotion also, but you get the picture.....}
..... hope this helps.... Bill
