Ok, laugh at the newbie, I am a ford boy that is trying to convert, but what the heck is this warning light for?

No effect on performance, has been since i bought the car...

low coolant


check the level in the radiator(COLD)
if full, the sensor is faulty(extremely common)

 

The senors (if faulty) are fairly expensive, especially for a little piece of plastic and a small sensor. I just opted to unplug mine and keep an eye on the coolant...so far so good...but I would definitely recommend just getting a new one- so your warning lights serve their purpose. Good luck.

i disconnected that stupid thing. But yea check your coolant and if its fine then your sensor is shot.
