What happens if I get pulled over with ORY and LT's?

I was just wondering what might happen in the state of Florida if I get pulled over for some reason, be it speeding, illegal turn, or exessive noise. If it is for some moving violation, will the cop want to look under the car to see what is going on? How about if it is for exessive noise? What are the odds of a cop actually checking right there on the side of the road? Now say he does check and sees the long tubes and ORY? What would happen then? Ticket, tow, suspention, what? Anybody have it happen to them?

Sounds like a question for your local police. It's sure not a question for a tech forum.

Nothing will happen. We have no emissions inspection You might however be ticketed for a local noise violation if there is 1 in your area. Thats up to the cop who stops you. Only people who get pulled over down here are dumbass kids who deserve to be pulled over for stupid driving. Most are ricers with fart cans. Cops dont seem to mind a good sounding V8 in my area

as long as you're not revving the heck out of it, then you should be fine
i have a gmmg and i've been right next to cops at lights
i just take off all nice and slow and they don't even look over
granted yours might be louder but...

if they do pull you over though, just be as nice as you can

Sorry Shoebox. Yeah, I wasn't sure where I should put it. A little to technical for the lounge, but not really an engine tech thing either. I think we need an exhaust forum or something.

Run straight pipes if you want to down here and takes yer chances with the noise. If you pull the cats its a federal violation. Not a state issue here in Florida there is no motor vehicle inspections whats so ever. Aint it great in the Sunshine State

Yeah, no cats or any emissions at all. And a loudmouth, so no muffler so to speak. I could live with a noise violation, they're usually like $60 or so, I'm just worried about the emmisions stuff. I'm more worried that the noise will prompt the officer to look under there, and see there are no cats. How much is the fine? I've heard as much as $2000 Would it be worth my time to weld up a fake cat just for the visual?

yea, i'd put on a high flow, but seeing as how you already have a orp, just take a cat shell and weld it up on there
just for safety

Just put a nice like XR1 bullet muffler wheer the cat should be about and if they look under there tell em tahts the cat. If they give you any **** say its a high flow cat thats why it doesnt look like the typical cat.

I doubt very much that a local cop is going to look let alone know what hes or she is looking at anyway. I think its a non issue. Now a State DOT cop is a whole nuther ball of wax. But they have nothing better to do then ticket trucks. I wouldnt worry about anything exhust related. Dont lose sleep, but dont send me the tickets eigther

I really wouldnt worry about it either.

I lived in tampa for a bit and they never bothered me in my car and its pretty loud.

Here in ohio i have had a couple cops comment on my car when ive been pulled over about the exhaust/car, but never been sited for it or even threatened to be sited, just comments. One cop asked me if i had cats on it, he seemed cool enough so i told him "no". He kinda smiled and turns out he had a Stang GT at home and BSed with me for awhile (pulled over for headlight burned out which had just happened that night, no biggie)

I find that with cops simply making them feel safe (turn on interior lights, put your hands where they can clearly see them) and polite (turn off radio and roll down window BEFORE they get to you, yes sir, no sir etc) goes a long long way. Ive been pulled over tons of times but only gotten one ticket (more than doubling speed limit, and he was cool enough to really reduce my speed).

Depends on the cop sometimes you don't get that luck^ Then again i don't live in FL. I have had a friend get his car looked at before---it was a lowered S-10 with a 4.3...it's loud. Made him rip the blue stripe he had across the top off right there or else he was getting a ticket. He has like 6 inches tinted from top and the rule is 4. I watched the whole incendent...it was where we worked...cop goes back and get out a ruler.....so some are not very nice about it. I would check into the fines for not having a cat they are usually way up there....if your will to risk it that do it. I know in Michigan the fine limit is super high for no cats. Then again.....how easy is it to see under our cars....my head doesn't even fit under mine...and that's level ground

Re: What happens if I get pulled over with ORY and LT's?

honestly I don't know why every guy needs to remove the cats. they don't hog that much power. My high flow cats (soundcats) cost me 40 bucks each and flow great, there is barely any catalyst even in there-I guess enough since they are good enough for CARB. What I did was put cutouts after the longtubes and then my cats, this way I can have max power when i need it, but on the street, I ts not worth the fine or environment to go without them. People like to ask me what kind of gas mileage I get and then what kind of illegal modifications I have and its nice to say great mileage for the power and clean as well. I hardly noticed the sound difference and I didn't notice any horsepower loss when I installed them, at least htat I could feel.

Like the others said you never know what cop might pull you over, and some states have up to 5000 dollars per cat missing fine. When I ran without cats I really missed that nice smell they have instead of hte raw fumes, although I like that as well but not as much. I imagine there is a pretty slim chance they will bust you without having them, so you can get away with it

totally agree
highflows are great and what's giving up 1-2 hp unless you're an all out dragster?
