What is a good anti-theft device?

Guys, I am about to get my car back after putting several thousand into it this winter and am wondering what is the best way to get someone from stealing the car???

I'm not talking about some beeping, chirping thing that people ignore! I'm talking about something where if a guy tries to steal it it won't start.

I thought about a battery disconnect, but I think that will screw up the computer.

Is there anything else that WORKS WELL???

I use the club-like device that locks the brake pedal in place. It goes
between the floor and brake pedal.

Remove the ignition fuse if you're cheap like me.

Will removing that fuse cause any issues with the CPU by being pulled in and out like that?

I would only need to do this like once a month. Other than that the car is safe most of the time.

Re: What is a good anti-theft device?

Forget LoJack, and the Club that goes between the floor and brake pedal. My brother had his 03 WRX stolen with the club. They sell a device online called the http://clubbuster.com/ which snaps either the steering wheel club, or the floor mounted one in half like a toothpick in about 20 seconds. After they stole it and stripped it clean, he went out and bought an 04 WRX STi. He had LoJack installed on it. The car was stolen from the driveway, involved in a police chase through 3 towns, and never seen from again. How is this possible? LoJack gives off a radio frequency. You can go to Radio Shack and purchase a radio frequency scanner for less than 100 bucks, run it over the car, and find out where the locator unit is hidden. They found his STi a little over a month later, also stripped clean. He now has an 05 GTO. We both installed this device on our cars: http://neverstolen.com/. Look into this. I dont see a car being driven off with one installed.

If you pull the PCM/Bat fuse, then it will reset the computer and it will have to relearn the idle and whatnot. I generally pull the one under the hood of the car, it only takes 20 seconds, and no theif will bother looking there.

Yes the guns are a good idea but it does not help when I'm not near the car.

The car is not parked in a questionable area too often. I'm thinking more like if I have to go someplace where it's in a parking garage or something that it will be safe.

Re: What is a good anti-theft device?

When i drove mine every day i wired the starter "signal" wire through my defrost button and a relay. So even if the column was busted and ignition was able to turn, they would have never got it started with the switch. If wired well enough there not going to take the time to figure it out.

Quick disconnect steering wheel could be good as well. When carrying it into the bar with you just club the first guy that lips off about it.
