Make a good plan for where you want to be at the end of the build. Drag car fast or road course fast, has to be built different for each. how fast do you want to go 12's 11's faster? Know where you want to get to before you start or you will end up doing things over.

hmm

i would do headers first. if you can do the install yourself you can do it for under 500. and its one of the very best mods there are for an lt1. you can do a catback and coated headers for aroun 800-1000. you can find used catbacks in the for sale section all the time. you can also find headers there too. you will gain 40+ RWHP from headers and a catback. headers alone after catback install has been dyno proven with pacesetter time and time again at 28-30 rwhp alone!!!

x2 because maintenance > mods.

That being said, I'd start out with the supporting mods. Catback, CAI, Headers/Y-pipe, Gears, etc.

tune up(plugs wires fuel filter fluids maybe sensors)
pcm tune
CAI
headers/exhaust

The tune cai and full exhaust should be 45rwhp or close to it. At that point I would look into drag radials, subframe connectors, gears, cam, suspension.

other small ****,(160 stat, TB bypass, free mods)

Based on my experience the 2 best mods to start with are...

1. Long tube headers
2. LT4 Hotcam or similar with 1.6RR/valve springs/hardened pushrods...really more like 3 mods but it's easier to do them all at once.
