Water inside my car

Today I discovered there was a nice puddle of water under the rear passanger side seat of my car and on the floor on the passanger side at the feet of the rear seat. I can't find the source of it. anyone know of any common defects that cause this or any quick fixes?

I have a 93z28 and its a hard top

Upper door seal? Try running water over the seams with someone inside. Sometimes if the door doesn't close correctly or the window pinches outside the seal it will leave a gap.

I had the same problem and didn't find my answer until I swapped out the interior. The water was coming from the rear hatch seal. I would park with the nose slightly down hill and it would allow water to pool up in the area where the hatch makes contact with the body. The hatch seal isn't glued down, only sat in place, so the water was making its way under the seal, down the side of the car behind the interior panels, and settling under the rear passenger seat/floorboard. Here's a pic showing where I saw the water run stains.

My 95 leaked over a winter. I discovered what was happening while getting something out of the back seat area. The carpet was a solid black block of ice. After the spring thaw I pulled the interior out. The carpet with padding weighed about 80 pounds full of water. It took weeks for it drain and dry. The bad part is that it all but ruined the floor pan. I considered getting rid of the car but decided to use sheet metal, rivets and fiberglass to repair it. The rest of the car was still very nice. I didn't discover specifically where the leak was but the hatch, T-tops and even the seal for the spoiler's wire loom were all suspects. If I were to go through it again I would remove the side panels beside the rear seats and look there first just as your photo shows. The car is never in the weather now but every time I wash it, I wonder if I'm putting a little water under the carpeting.

park facing uphill lol well depending where that water sits you can drill a 1/4 inch hole so it doesn't sit in that pocket and come inside but im not sure where that is above, you wouldn't want water to leak anywhere else and rot something.

I had the same thing happen to me when I parked on a down hill. Sounds like it might be a common problem. I replaced the rubber seal on the hatch and it has not leaked since. I have not parked on a downhill since then either.

I no longer park the vehicle so that the nose is lower than then rear lol. Like lt1_8u said, you can drill some small holes in the drainage area so that it does not pool up. You can also replace the rubber seal and use something to make it stick to the vehicle so that water can not penatrate under it.
