i'm just curious.

mabye you could use a window switch to active something at a given rpm for the desired effect.

i think it would be a more simple idea to just stick the rev limiter at like 3.5k with a hypertech programmer or something, but i dunno how low you can set it useing that thing.

interesting idea though

Not exactly sure, but it sounds like something that limits your RPM's, and thus your top speed. Basically you enable it when you drop your car off to be valet parked so they cannot joy ride in it.

Both of the caddy's my parents have have actual valet keys that dont open certain things and I'm sure it goes alot deeper than that.

That particular setup would be very complicated I'm sure, but I'm sure you could fab up something to temporarily limit rpm's.

I'm not exaclty sure how an msd window switch works, could somebody explain this to me? Couldnt you use this in an opposite way?

well, on the ZR1, it limited the engine to 200 or so horsepower, down from the upper 300s.

i was thinking about a shift point change, since i have an automatic.i

i'm not really sure why i want this, since no one drives my car but me. but i still think it'd be cool. and might save me some tickets.

ok, it would be near impossible if not totally impossible to run a valet switch like a ZR1 'cuz it would cut off like half of the valves to drop it to 200 hp. it would be really easy to control the rev limiter like people have mentioned. and the valet switch on an alarm system if it's anything like mine just disables the actual alarm. it turns into a keyless entry system instead of a full alarm. with certain types of aftermarket ignitions you can control the rev limiter with just a dial. if you wanted to do it with hypertech then you would have to go through the programming process each time.

what exactly is the point of this?? i'm sure many things could be rigged up but is it worth it? that stop screw you mentioned could be pretty cool though.

well...maybe i go to expensive restuarants that have valet parking..., or strip clubs that have valet parking, or parking garages.

maybe when i take my car to have new tires put on it i don't want the guys mounting my tires taking it for a test drive.

what's the point of it in a Zr1?

edit: ever seen ferris bueller's (sp?) day off?

Just put a small block of wood under the gas pedal before you get to the restaurant or strip club. Elegant in its simplicity and functionality.

If it's a big enough block of wood, they won't be able to go that fast. And if they do, then you get the restaurant/strip club to buy you a new Vette or something.

hmm....they'd probably investigate the accident and come to the conclusion it was insurance fraud and i'd go to jail...

maybe i should just give up this crazy idea of making my car slower, and start making it faster.
