Question Types of Firebirds

im new to the f-body circle and i was wondering what are the major differences in the types of 98-02 firebirds there are out there. I know the WS6 has about 80 more h/p than the basic t/a but i dont have a clue where the formula fits in. anyone with the knowledge, please enlighten me.

Who told you the WS6 was such a powerhouse? Cause they were pulling your leg big time.

Mostly the different "types" are basically trim packages. Your basic Firebird is the V6 car. Then you go up to the Formula which is the standard V8. Next would be the Trans AM which gets a few more things like the high rise spoiler. The WS6 gets about 15 extra horses from the ram air hood and slightly better exhaust. It also gets 17" wheels standard and a little better suspension. Finally, the Firehawk from SLP gets some additional goodies to bump the power to ~345 horses as well as a different ram air hood.

What Chris said is right. You've got:

Firebird: Base V6 Auto/5spd

Formula: Firebird with a V8 and Auto/6spd

Trans Am: Formula with different GFX, Hise rise spoiler, etc with Auto/6spd

Special Editions: WS6 (Formula/TA), Firehawk, etc

If we had a "twak" smiley, I'd use it.

I love the hood on the WS6. The suspension and the exhaust are just an added bonus. As far as the HP increase, whatever the rating, it really doesn't matter since the LS1 is so underrated to begin with.

Personally, I wanted to buy a Formula for the sleeper look. But, since I couldn't find one and I did find the good deal on the WS6, I snagged it. (along with the BlackWS6.com domain ... shameless plug)
