Turbonator
Re: Turbonator
for the love of god.....not this again.
how on earth do people think this thing really works???? especially as much as they say.
according to their claim you could boost power by like 50hp in a v8 camaro...i mean come on!!! a cam can barely do that!!!
so in short
NO
do a search...you'll see what i'm talking about
Re: Turbonator
Now if you buy 3 of them and attach them in series to make a "Super Turbonator" you will see 3X the boost. That's 150HP to unleash for the price of seat covers. Plus if you install your NOS in the "Super Turbonator", the HP would just be mind numbing of the hook. Be prepared for some mega serious voltage requirements.
The Turbonator is the most state of the art most bang for the buck performance part to come along since the Tornado throttle body insert. Now if your "Super Turbonator" can provide enough boost then the Tornado can works its cyclonic magic, it would be like F5 tornado wind velocity through your engines pie-hole. I would suggest immediately, not later but now getting stage 12 ported heads, dual ported 64mm throttle body (LT1 only) and machining the combustion chamber for dual spark plugs, just don't use Bosche or you will start running a bit fat. If money starts to get tight you may omit the dual spark plugs in favor of Split-fire spark plugs cause its the exact same thing, I mean it has a forked electrode, DUH.
Also consider some ceramic titanium super alloy oversized valves and high flow straight through catback exhaust. Just remember that F5 tornado wind velocity going in means close to F5 tornado velocity coming out which would shoot the guts out of a chambered muffler, however I will differ to a more experienced person to confirm this.
Curiously I would like to know what would happen if a pair turbonators were installed in place of the exhaust pipe tips at the rear of the car, they would be forcibly pulling spent air out of the engine. I believe that all the installed Turbonators working in conjunction would provide the ultimate boost experience
What I am trying to say is it would cost so much $$$ to beef up the engine for "Super Turbonator" it is just counter productive. A single Turbonator wont provide any more HP gains than a pair of fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror. Do it right or don't do it.
Now let me tell you what would happen to the 10-bolt rear-end under that kind of boost. Better yet just bring a bucket and a bicycle.
Jus' having fun here.
To answer the question no no no.

Re: Turbonator
These things are about as good as the "chips" they sell on eBay to add 20 HP to your engine. Yeah, a resistor stuck in your IAT to trick the PCM into thinking the air outside is cold. They say it can't hurt your engine, but I suspect on a 90+ degree day it may cause detonation under load. What a bunch of crap.
Re: Turbonator
no they arent gonna work. there is more or less many proven steps to take to up the power in your vehicle. use those, they have been proven time and time again.
these guys are getting on you hard because the question has been asked before. although i try to be a little nicer, some people are much worse.
remember search first, then if you cant find anything just ask....works out great considering you will be able to get answers faster through the search than it takes for people to post.

Re: Turbonator
I think that the money invested would be more effective here:

Thank god it was a Mustang guy that thunk this up.
Some people just have too much time on their hands. You can even see the AC extension cord in the pic.
I can see it now, this Mustang pulls up to the staging line, gets set and has to get out and plug a 1/2 mile extension cord into the christmas tree to get the boost he needs to whip a Z.
Check out the homemade high flow filter, I'm no genius but I will bet that thing flows pretty damn good.
Plus I want give the ricers their respect as well:
