Ttop question.

How hard are your guys' ttops to latch into place? I did a pretty successful ttop conversion and right now i have them fairly hard to put in. I was wondering how hard yours were. I can adjust it if need be but i didnt want to make it too easy cuz then it would wobble.

Re: Ttop question.

150K miles and every warm sunny day you can think of and mine are still pretty tough to latch in stock. I say the harder the better because the last thing you need is a Glass Glider Gliding off the freeway as you're doing 70...

LOL Happened to my buddy--- claims a mystery passenger forgot to bolt it down, but we all know he was riding solo that night. T-top replacements are expensive.

Re: Ttop question.

What do you mean by hard to latch? Mine slide right into place and latch just fine. Pretty easy and straight to the point.

I believe he means the firmness of the handle to lock it in place. Mine is hard and stiff like it should be.

Re: Ttop question.

I need to replace that bar that the T-tops go into, it's all sun damaged, same with the weather stripping around it. Does anyone know where I can get these?

Re: Ttop question.

Mine is firm, but still very easy..

I'm guessing the latching holes isn't lined up properly.. or the inner mechnism of the t-top needs some lubing..

Re: Ttop question.

Take the t-top apart and clean out the mechanism with some WD40, its much much much nicer afterwards, the 2 sets I had from the junkyard were very firm, I had to clean them out and they were great afterwards. Don't worry, you won't make it too "loose"

only way my tops are tight, is I have to push down on them to get them in place but I made it like that the handle is very smooth.

Same here. Easy enough that you don't have to force anything but firm enough you know they aren't gonna come undone. I never take mine off though T-tops = Gay.

Re: Ttop question.

Mine slide in fine, nice and smooth. The latch is firm but not difficult. I've only got 23k miles on mine, though. The weather stripping makes it fit nice and snug. I've only notice an occasional drip here and there when it rains....

Re: Ttop question.

I didnt notice any adjustability in the middle bar. But you can take the interior trim off of the brackets and then you can adjust them. I think im gonna do the wd-40 trick and leave em as is becuase it seems like i have it adjusted pretty good. I was just curious if it was supposed to be easy. I am very impressed at how well everything fit together, everything goes into place and it is sturdy/stable.

And for the t-top hater, I always wanted ttops and now that i have em i am soo happy. Unless you have terrible weather, they are great.

Re: Ttop question.

mine are just right, not too tight, but not too loose. but, I think I need new weather stripping as they leak a bit with rain, but I tried an automatic car wash and it leaked like a sieve.

still trying to figure out how t-tops are gay... does this person think verts are gay as well??

Re: Ttop question.

I did the wd40 and wow... big improvement. I noticed that they are tons easier to open and close now. I did the metal just right so they fit in very well and are very firm when locked in. Thanks for the tip.
