Trying to fix security light.

So i read shoebox's page and it looks pretty simple. So went down to Ace Hardware to get my key scanned the pellet code is 8 which means i need between 2275-2485 Ohms. Well the closet resistor they had at radio shack is 2.2k with a 5% tolerance. My question is will this work on my car?

5% of 2.2k is 110, so it could be as high as 2310 if tolerance was off purely on the high side. Kinda iffy. You can string (daisy chain) resistors of different values together to add up to the value you need. So, if you bought another 100 or 150 ohm resistor to add to your 2.2k, then you would probably have a better chance at success.
