According to my info, Chevy made ~1,344 M6's out of 1,999 total SS coupes. And another 264 SS Converts. Don't have total numbers but it has to be 40 or 50 thousand for all Camaro's.
They, GM, never kept track by color, but white is not uncommon.
So bottom line is, the SS's are rarer and more collectable then other Camaro's and go for slightly more depending on mod's and mileage. But they are only worth what someone will pay!

White's actually one of the rarer colors. Off the top of my head, the only rarer color in '96 was Bright Teal Metallic.

Someone told me there were roughly 100 white 6 speed SS's made in '97, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

1996 SLP Camaro SS Production Numbers

When I bought my 1997 SLP Camaro SS I contacted SLP and they mailed me some information on Production Numbers for 1996 & 1997 SLP Camaro SS's.

I am not positive but the numbers might NOT include the Camaros that were sold in Canada. The sheet says a Total of 2263 Camaro SS's were made in 1996.

Here is what it shows...

370 Total White 1996 Camaro SS's

310 Coupes (T-Top & Hardtop) and 60 Convertibles

Further Breakdown:

Convertible - 60 Total (27 manual & 33 auto)
T-Top - 193 Total (121 manual & 72 auto)
Hardtop - 117 Total (74 manual & 43 auto)

I think I've seen a sheet with those break downs before, do you have it? Mind posting up the info?

I will scan the sheets when I can. I don't have a scanner right now. For the 1997 Breakdowns it does not include the 30th Anniversary vehicles. I have seen those somewhere before though.

Yes 1999 plus 264 equals 2263 if you were wondering but what about the 2410 # I have always heard that were made for the total of 1996 SLP Camaro SS's. So does that mean only 147 were sold in Canada?

Dave, you obviously should have a lot more info then I do.
Just one of my pet peeves, ie. repeating what someone else just said but in a different way, as if they're wrong.
By the way, nice cars!!!!!!!!!!

The sheet says a Total of 2263 Camaro SS's were made in 1996. I'm assuming the 147 that would be missing to make the total 2410 were for Canadian Export even though thats where they were made.

Here is what it shows...

818 Total Black 1996 Camaro SS's

739 Coupes (T-Top & Hardtop) and 79 Convertibles

Further Breakdown:

Convertible - 79 Total (56 manual & 23 auto)
T-Top - 503 Total (363 manual & 140 auto)
Hardtop - 236 Total (181 manual & 55 auto)

Re: Trying to find how rare 96 camaro ss is

I have a 1996 SS car. I have seen detailed production numbers on this thread for both the white and black color cars. Does anyone have the detailed production numbers on the red cars? I have a red, T-top, automatic, 1996 SS car. It is car number 105. Thank you in advance, Scott.
