It depends on what mufflers you use and where the exhaust exits. Dumped before the axle with turndowns will be the loudest, then dumped with turndowns angled out to the side, then exiting out the side before the rear tires, then exiting out the rear. If you have anough money to exit out the rear, that would be the way to go.

That will be a little loud then. But chambered mufflers will sound good, like an old 60's muscle car.

Are you going with a X or H-pipe. You might want some type of bullet muffler to go along with the chambered muffler to quiet it down a little, cause its going to be loud. And useually the longer the muffler, the quieter it will be. There are a few sites that sell chambered mufflers like.

This custom system sounds very nice but is a little expensive.

It depends on the mufflers. I run TD with purple horny header mufflers (glasspacks) with turndowns and just cruising around its not bad. It screams at WOT though.

Re: true duals too loud for a DD??

hey guys im not sure what the regs are up north or out west but, down here in south alabama(mobile) you can get away with almost anything for an exhaust. my 89 rs has true duals with some flowmasters that i think are race mufflers, they look like normal flowmasters but are only about ten to twelve inches long. i havent heard the car yet because i bought the car wrecked and i havent got it fixed yet. but, my 91 chevy pu with a350 has the shortest exhaust of all my vehicles, nothing but a glasspack and 3ft of 3in tube and it sounds ok. so it really depends on were you are and what the law says as to what you can do. but, as far as i am concerned the louder the better(as long as it dont sound like a freakin rice burner)

Very true. Mine work well. I'm running Flowtech Afterburners. They're kind of bulky, but once you get them up in there, they're great. Deep at idle, quiet at cruise, and loud at WOT.

Re: true duals too loud for a DD??

I just put Pacesetters and a 3" x-pipe with bullet mufflers dumped before the axle. I love the way it sounds until the windows are up with the A/C on driving through town...it tends to get a little too loud on the inside. I don't drive my car the much though so it doesn't bother me.

"what about using Dual Borla Muff's"

i've seen several TDs setups with the borla XR1s...they sound good...but at $100+ per muffler...they are a bit expensive
