Transporting engine

Putting a small block on an engine stand in the back of my minivan isn't really a good solution.
Does anyone have plans for a small stand I can build to transport this thing across town?
(or ideas of what I can use to accomlish that without damaging the engine)

Clarification: It's just a shortblock, not a complete engine

My engine builder let me borrow this crate type thing he made out of wood. To kinda cradle the engine and I straped the crate and engine down to the bed of the truck. As far as plans go for making somthing like that I do not have any.

Yeah, just across KC from the assembler's shop to the installer's shop.
Then to transport my old one back home until I decide if I am going to sell it or save it.

That's exactly what I was looking for.
All he has are engine stands (tall ones, to work on ... no shorty transport stands)
Even with a truck, I wouldn't want to move an engine around like that.

I use these.....http://store.summitracing.com/partde...7&autoview=sku

You can leave the wheels off if you want to.

It will work on a LT1 I use them all the time

Throw it upside down on a piece of plywood. No big deal.

Have your builder make a little stand out of 2x4".... that works fine for short transportation.. Or as said above flip it over and have them put it in your van with the engine crane....

Make sure to tie it. I had to panic stop once with a block in the back of the wagon. Had both rear seats folded down, block hit the back of the drivers and passengers seats and ended up on the back floor. I imediately put it back by the tailgate and put up the middle row of seats to at least catch it if it slide again. Was an increadibly stupid move on my part that could have injured me badly but didn't, just punched some holes in the leather.

Ended up supporting it upside down on a few rolls of carpet.
Wrapped the shortblock in shrinkwrap, then in a tarp and tied it down to the carper and
then to the cargo anchors in the back of the van.

The cops that searched my car later that night were not amused by the rolled up carpet with tarp and rope. LMAO
