Trans Am Paint

I just got back from looking at a 95 Trans Am. To my suprise it had a color changing paint job on it. It was bluish/green and a little purple depending on the light. I was wondering if this is stock paint, he said it was but I never heard of that stock?

How many T/As were built with this paint option? Is there a way to find out production umbers over the years? Does anyone know the paint name, or code of this paint?

It's called Mystic Teal. They had them on Camaro's and Firebird's... it's one of their more rare colors but not the rarest. There's a site some where out there with production #'s on the colors and all but I can't seem to find it right now. Try searching around

79U is the RPO for that color if I recall correctly... the paint code I used when I bought base to have mine re-pained was U911B or something like that.

There is no purple, just blue & green.

Chamalaeon blue/green is what I've always referred to it as, and it's different than Mystic Teal, but some say it is some say it ain't.

Look at this thread here for a good discussion:

Mystic Teal has a shade of purple under certain lighting... from your description that's what it sounds like to me I believe the paint code includes a red and several different shade's of blue which gives you that purple effect.

I have one, and it does have purple. The purple only seems to be visible from certain angles and shows up great with dark lighting.

To my understanding there was this color for 95's only and a very similar variant for others.
