Traction Control

Traction Control
Hey guys got another quick question for ya
My TA has Traction Control but no button to turn it off. I know it has it because I can feel it very easily if I dump the clutch
Can I pull the fuse to disable it for a while.
Or will it set major codes off if I pull it or hurt it

Re: Traction Control
If you had traction control, the button to turn it off would be right in front of the shifter labeled TCS I believe. In mine (being a Camaro), it has an ASR button just about the radio. If you don't have a button there, you probably don't have traction control. Not all f-bodies came with that option.

Re: Traction Control
yep i have a tcs equipped car and there is a button above the radio that is labled "asr" and you just flip the puppy off and you can do 20 ft burnouts
if you dont have the button yoru dont have traction control (most likely)

Re: Traction Control
Traction control usually will feel like your gas pedal has someone pushing against your right foot. If you have a m6 and you dumped the clutch, you sure you're not mistaking the wheel spin and lack of traction?
Whenever I dump the clutch the car loves to fishtail, but after doing a crap load of launches on track, I've got it nailed down to a squirm.

Re: Traction Control
The way I understand it, no button = no TCS
You would also get a dash light that says "LOW TRAC" or some such nonsense.
You've probably got a slipping clutch. Quit dumping it.

Re: Traction Control
Maybe the clutch does slip I have only had it a Month or so.
BTW: I have only dumped the Clutch twice Greed4Speed so I know its nothing I did (oh well coulda been the previous owner.)
Or Maybe its the downgrade in power? The Chevelle would spin till I let out I guess I'm not use to something grabbing Traction eventually.

Re: Traction Control
The "Low Trac" light can come on whether or not you have Traction Control or not. I have 3-channel ABS (hence no traction control system) and when I downshift my M6 enough to light up the tires the "Low Trac" light on the dashboard comes on. To repeat: I don't have a traction control system. Wow, I think I might have just taught Greed4Speed something??? Damn I feel cool! The definitive question for Traction Control/ASR...how many ABS sensors do you have? 4 sensors = traction control equipped car, 3 sensors = no traction control.

Re: Traction Control
you could VERY easily have worn out a Hot Spot in your clutch in 2 months. if you keep your foot on the clutch pedal while you drive, just to be ready to press it, chances are you've worn a spot in it and it needs to be replaced. Its very easy to do, i burned a clutch in my first car that way before anybody told me.

not all f bodies had a button to turn off the traction control. There used ot be threads on how to installa switch.
