Tornado?
Tornado?
Has anyone used the 'tornado'? I saw it in autozone a few days ago and it said it increased gas mileage and all that, I was just wondering if anyone has tried it and can testify to its abilities.

Anyway, a vendor actually sent me one free for testing. I put it on the dyno, and wouldn't you know, no gain. So I left it in my car for a month to see if I got any kind of MPG gain; no dice there.
I thought that, if this thing shows no gain, then ok, we're all right considering what we Theoretically would assume (no gain). But then it would be interesting to see a gain, if any, on the dyno at the same time.
It's ironic you bring this thing up, because I was surfing channels last weekend and the Tornado infomercial was on. It was driving me nuts to watch all the idiots on there so I sent their tech support an email. I received a couple responses just yesterday. I'll post up what was said when I get home....

I cant wait to hear this.
Re: Tornado?
Yep. I had one in my Cavie a while ago....no seat of the pants change, or any MPG either. They have a similar product that is used in Carb motors that mounts between the carb and the manifold. I have heard fom a couple people that they noticed a change in MPG. I think it is because you can start the "air-swirling" thing but once that air gets to the throttle plate, the flow is disrupted. If they design it to "swirl" after the TB/Carb in a way that is relative to the sequence of opening intake valves (1,3,7,2,5...)....or whatever....theroretically it might work..... Anyway....there's a sucker born every minute
Re: Tornado?
OK, here's what I said to them along with the responses:

I posted a challenge on a major automotive performance forum (40,000+ members) asking any vendor to send me one for testing and I would post the results. Sure enough, a vendor sent me one for free. I took it down to my local dyno shop and dyno'd the tornado. I gained NOTHING. No gain, no loss, therefore, your product is a certified piece of $60 CRAP. Glad I didn't pay anything for it. I guarantee you; go to ANY major Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Ford, or Dodge performance forum and ask about it. It is indeed the laughing stock of "performance" parts.

Hello Brent,
I appreciate your professionalism to receiving a free unit for testing. Though it might have not received any Dyno results we still have sold over 2 million units and sell about 15000 units a month. So I guess my numbers outnumber yours. We will save your information and thank you for testing our product.
Second reply from Adrian:
Oh I almost forgot why don’t you post this on your forums. http://www.wroctv.com/features/testitnow.asp
My Response:
So, tell the truth; you have pulled the wool over 2,000,000 hard worker's eyes, and continue to find about 15,000 more idiots per month. I guess that's all it takes to make a buck these days.
--------------------------------------------------------
So, uh, guess who's laughing all the way to the bank? Sucks don't it.
I wonder how the hell they convinced SEMA that this is a 'good' product. Kind of makes me second guess the credibility of SEMA...

I'll be sure to reformulate my post next time somebody asks this same question. Looks like now we have proof.
Sold over 2 million of those, eh...? 2,000,000 x $60 = lots of $$$
They do have a money back guarantee, though, don't they? I wonder how many have returned it and how many have actually gotten their money back.
Re: Tornado?
A Grand Marquis getting 44mpg, they have got to be friggin kidding me. How damn stupid do they think we are. And how much did they have to pay that shmuck to lie his *** off. Like someone else said, if a manufacturer could improve mileage by upwards of 75% with something as simple as that piece of garbage, I'm pretty sure they would be doing it.

Well..., not necessarily us on this very board, but the people "out there"...

this should be a sticky.
