titanium retainers

what are the advantages? are they really needed for a mild cam daily driver application?

i don't really race...

Titanium is very light and very strong.. plus they're about the only thing made out of titanium for an engine that is affordable. Not to mention, saying you have titanium parts in your engine is always cool too...

But a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, so unless you're running top of the line everywhere else, titanium retainers will be overkill.

Titanium is silly. Titanium is a terrible heat conductor.

Since there will be no loss of power due to heat soak in the retainers, that doesn't really matter.

the reason for Ti retainers is to reduce valvetrain weight. lighter weight equals higher revs and faster valvetrain response. you need em with a big roller cam but they are a waste of funds on a stock engine...
