throw out bearing came apart

Clutch is a Luk replacement. I'm using a Fidanza flywheel if that matters. I've got 50k miles on this setup easily. Looks like the flange that rests against and is pushed by the fork sheared off the center section. Any ideas why or how? Just thinking there might be some other cause besides a failed throw out bearing.

Also, it looks like my fork was contacting the pressure plate. I'm guessing this may be a result of the throw out bearing starting to fail before it finally let loose.

The LT1 pull clutch TO bearing has been known to peel back the top lip like what happened to you. That is why your fork contacted the PP. The Fork is still OK

if the clutch is otherwise still good you could just get a new T.O. bearing.

The original "square top" TO bearing used in the LT4 Vettes has a thicker top. SPEC sells them for around $80 IIRC

Re: throw out bearing came apart

Thanks! Wish I had known about the LT4 option. I went with a Centerforce one which I believe was just a repackaged National/Timken unit. Dimensionally it is the same as what failed. So far everything's working just fine. I'll be pulling it all back out later in the year to rebuild the transmission. I'll inspect everything then.
