thoughts on g-tech meters
Has anyone used the G-tech performance meters. I heard from a buddy who has a '05 STI that G-tech ss meter was close to his specs, 2 hp off. He has not tried it at the track yet.
If anyone has tried one let me know. I am thinking about borrowing his to try it out and see if it is worth it.

Re: thoughts on g-tech meters
I swore by the lowest end one I bought off eBay a year or two back for $40.
Not for the HP, because I could never get an even close to accurate reading for that, but for ET and MPH in the 1/4 mile.
Then I finally hit the track with it.
It was at minimum 1 second off (over) on the ET, and about 7% off (over) on the MPH. It was consistant, as were my 4 runs, but the innaccuracy lead me to eBay.
I got $76 for it off eBay so there were no hard feelings on selling it.
I would assume their more expensive models are probably much more accurate.

Car & Driver or Road & Track did a test on 10 different ones last year. There was one called a Tazzo that looked just like an original G-tech that was $70 and performed pretty accurately. It was a very complicated segment so I'll try to find it online a post a link to it. It even talked about some devices being less accurate in a truck or suv due to the front of the vehicle lifting up higher than a sports cars which gave a false reading of quicker acceleration. Again I'll try to find it on the net and post a link.

OK. I found the review. Lots of reading so really read this if you are going to get one:

Re: thoughts on g-tech meters
If you want to use it for comparison purposes after you do mods to your car, it should work fine. You merely establish a baseline and go from there. There have been documented reasons why it is not accurate as compared to actual 1/4 mile track times, having to do with the way each is measured.
