A thought before selling your car
We've all been there, you have to sell your baby for whatever the reason may be. Alas its hard to part with the car but i've got a few suggestions for pricing it, which i find suprisingly accurate.
The best example if you want to sell the car is to put it on ebay with a reserve which no one will pay. Check out the ending bid and see then. My car ended up selling locally for about 300 more then it would have on ebay, if i had sold it there i would have sold it much sooner.
Always look up what the Book value is for the car KBB.com is a great source. I find that cars usually sell for anywhere from 1.5-3k less then book. That is ofcourse unless you hold out for that one special someone with deep pockets who falls in love with you and your car.
That being said i had a few interesting conversations tonight with people from all over the country. Arizona sold a 2000 SS Red M6 for 9000, 90k, South Carolina is asking 7200 for a 99 SS with 118k, a couple months back a red 98 ss convertible went for 6500!!!
.
So if your buying the cars are out there, its all about timing i guess. One more thing for sellers If you owe money on the car, make your payments because your car shouldn't do it for you. An interesting call i made tonight was to a 99 ss with 98k, in wa state "in great condition" for an asking of 12000
2k over book. When i inquired as to the pricing strategy for a stock 99 with some minor problems... "well my daughter still owes 11 on the car". A teenage girl behind the wheel of a m6 ss
. A final question was posed to the seller of how long it was for sale..... "Well its been over a year"
I realize this might be a bit of a rant but, hey.... well yah, its just a rant.

i have to say that it does kinda bother me to see someone behind the wheel of SS's and WS6's that has no appreciation for what they drive. there was an 01 SS on the lot where i work and i had already talked to the used car manager and fleet manager about buying it. when i went in that night with my down the fleet manager told me she sold it to this lady who traded in a 97 camaro convertible v6 car. 2 weeks later the chick is in asking if i want to buy it cause she is scared to death of the car. the car was being sold for 17,000. i would have had it for 12,000 and she wanted to sell it to me for 20,000.
