Those of you from Canada or bording states

I'm not sure this is a tech question, but i wanted to know how well f-bodies did the the weather you guys have. I am from Delaware and planning on taking a Road trip to Montreal, Canada for spring break.

I wanted to know what preperations i should make for traveling in Canadas weather. I've never been there but i have a mental image of it being all covered in snow all the time, and people driving around with chains on their tires.

Will i need chains? I have 315 Nittos, and they are good for nothing in the snow. Really good in the rain though.

Will i need to tune anything? I'm not sure of the elevation but i am at sea level. I am thinking i might take my 79 CJ5 instead, but i dont really know what the elevation is like. Will i need to re-jet the carb?

Would you reccomend any other certain preperations for driving in Canada?

Will it be ok to take my firebird, or would it be better to take my Jeep? I was worrid about the elevation for the jeep, and the traction for the Firebird. I save alot of gas in the Firebird though.

So my question is, can you drive an F-body in Canada? I really have no idea what the weather is like.

Oh yeah, and is it true the legal drinking age in Montreal is 18 ?

I'll move this to the General Tech forum... most of your stuff will not be related to the engine itself. Also, I'd try to help ya out with some answers but unfortunately (or fortunately ) I live in FL and don't know squat about tire chains

What date is your spring break?

I don't even consider taking my car out of storage before late march,if you have 315's don't even think about it.

Even if it isn't snowing it can be very cold and wide tires and iced roads don't mix.

Take the jeep because even if you luck out and hit mice weather your bird will be sandblasted and salted from below.

March 12th - 20th is the spring break. My friend wants to go skiing at Station Mont-Tremblant. He wants to stay at the Merriot and for $120 US a night you get a room, ski rental, and lift passes. We were going to do this for 3 days and nights.

So Timelord, you are from Quebec, what is there to do there? We will all be 18, 2 guys and a few girls, what kinds of things are there to do for fun? Any places you reccomend to check out?

Also will i need to tune the carburetor on my Jeep for the higer altitude?

I'm glad you elaborated a bit, you didn't really say what part of Canada you were going to visit (it is the second biggest country in the world ).
By the time you come down here, it'll probably be fairly warm... take the Firebird.

Mid march around Montreal shouldn't be too bad,you may get by with the Bird!

Id you are from Delaware then up here there will be EVERYTHING to do,you will be on another planet alltogether.

Tremblant has enough nightlife to keep you satisfied for the 3 days probably.

If you really want to burn in hell you can drive down to Montreal and do just about anything you have ever dreamed of!!

ENJOY and see you in Hell in about 50 years!!

Yeah i wasnt sure what ski resort we were going to. I had to ask my friend. It's in Montreal, Quebec. Does everyone say "eh" at the end of each sentence, or will they get mad at me if i do, eh? I saw Strang Brew and now I think Canadians are the coolest ever. Do they speak English?

Oh yeah, how warm is warm? Warm for Delaware in March is like 70 degrees. Anything above freezing is fine for me to drive the firebird in, but the tires arent very good below 40.

Chains on a Camaro Do know what those pretty Nitto's will look like after a couple of miles with chains, not to mention the inner fender wells. And it will cost almost as much for snow tires as it will to rent a car. 4wd or awd your choice.

Yeah there is nothing to do in Delaware. There is a pool halll, sometimes i play pool, but that's about it. There's a mall, you can watch movies or shop until 9pm. So yeah, any night life is a different world.

I heard there are hottubs outside. That would be awsome. At the ski-resorts, will they be open in March? What would the average temperature for Montreal be in March? I've always wanted to go to Canada, eh.

I'll take the bird and hope it doesnt snow. Any snow really kills the traction. Are there lots of hot girls in Canada? LOL. And do girls MY age (18) hang out at the bars? We are supposed to be staying at the Marriott, so maybe we'll have a party or something if the prospects are good enough

I live in Montreal, and I dont drive mine in winter but some people do, and as long as it dosent snow you should be fine, its actually about 40-45 degrees here today. let me know when you get into town! or if you wanna know where to go and stuff.

Gary.

Tremblant is a year round facility, screw the hotel scene and hit the bars and restaurants.

We usualy start going to bars about 15-16 years old,so don't worry the bars are packed.

Temperature can be anything from below 0 to 65-70 degrees, you are kind of in between seasons.

You can do anything at 18 here,,,,,,

In the clubs and bars you will be okay with english, general population is french but they can get by in english in most cases.

Re: Those of you from Canada or bording states

Are the signs in KM? My friend says the signs are all French. Do i need a passport to get over the border or anything?

I've yet to drink any alcohol in my life, so It's going to be an awsome trip

I'll get the Jeep ready to travel just incase the weather forcast shows there will be snow or anything. Does anyone have an area code for montreal so i can check weather?

If it's going to be cold crappy weather i'll take the Jeep to be safe, otherwise i'll take the firebird. We're only gonna be there for 3 days. Maybe we could get everyone from Montreal on CZ28 to meet at a bar or something and have a party back at the hotel the last night (incase we get kicked out) That would be awsome, eh. lol.

Does Canada celebrate spring break? Like are there lots of parties and stuff? Are you allowed to ski drunk? Haha. I've never skiied before so drunk or not im gonna fall. I'm not sure how close the hotel is to the resort, but it seems like this trip is gonna be alot of fun.

One of the friends im going with was skiing last weekend in Vermont, and someone stole one of his skis at the top of the mount and skiied off with it. He skiied down the entire mount with only one ski. Haha. Sonds like plenty of room to do stupid things.
