Theoretically, what would break first at 155mph?

Me and my wife were debating this on a long boring drive today:

If you were driving an LS1 A4 fbody, on a straight road, and you accelerated to the vehicles top speed(155ish MPH, right?), and held the gas pedal on the floor indefinatley, what would break first?

1) The brakes would over heat from 155mph of friction, and the rotors would fly apart eventually, forcing you to lose control.

2) Your Zrated stock sized tires would eventually overheat and separate from the carcas, forcing you to lose control.

3) Your automatic transmission would overheat and you would start losing gears, and speed, due to transmission failure.

4) Your engine oil would break down due to heat, and you would spin a bearing due to improper lubrication.

5)something else, which you need to describe.

wait for the poll

The biggest problem that the, high speed, Open Road Racing guys have is tires and trans/diff. temps. However you specified a straight road, so tires shouldn't be that big of a problem.

biggest issue with going 155 is a pothole your tire will bust in, or a cop. the chances of anything else going wrong are the same as if your going 80 in the interstate anyway

OK, for the spirit of the conversation, lets say that this top speed run in happening on a closed course, so cops aren't an issue. I'm fully aware of the risk of getting pulled over. I was more interested in the mechanical aspect of the conversation.

I see a pothole being a big deal. If I hit it square, I could blow a tire. If I swerve to miss it, I could lose control of the car.

I don't see how the rear end would assplode. It isn't being shocked like it is during a T56 drag launch. It is under a constant load. I'm pretty sure only chinese drop forged cheese-steel alloy would fatigue and crack like that.

At 155mph your engine is only turning 4600rpm (LS1/w 4speed auto). Your LSx should be able to do that all day.

Heat from friction?

I can believe that if it was a M6. I don't think that is true with an A4.

I am too lazy to look it up, so if I'm wrong I'm sorry.

I can tell you a driveshaft failure at 130 is nothing nice...

I know this because I had that experience on Monday...
