Temperature Gauge Question

I just purchase a 2001 Z28 and for some reason the temperature guage (once the car is warm) stays around 210. My 1998 Z28 stayed around 180. I remember reading Chevy did something to the guages. Is this true? My car is not overheating....

Any responses greatly appreciated.

It is a desensitized guage. GM had too many people who freaked out because they could see the temp go up and down when they stopped and started moving in their 98 so they desensitized them.

Most people say they're just a dummy guage, but after installing a 160* t-stat and having my fans programmed to come on earlier mine doesn't set as high as it used to. It gets around the 2 of 210. So, IMO it is a bit more than just a dummy guage.
