My temp gauge is pegged all the way to the left regardless of coolant temp. any ideas? (1999 z28m a4 90k)

 

well... the guages in our cars dont really tell the true temp anyway. Its more of a dummy gauge that only tells if it overheats... but ya other than that there is definately something wrong there

 

Have you checked the sender?

 

It's probably unplugged at the sensor or the wire is broken.

 

Well, I have figured it out. It seems as though the dash has been apart before and not put back together correctly. The needle was wedged between the plastic trim and the backing plate so it couldnt move. It moves freely now and all is well. Thanks for your help.
