hi, does anyone know where to buy the tape that the t-top center bar is stuck down with? its a double sided tape of some sort. i'm not sure if plain double sided tape will work or not. i'm not sure if the tape serves a purpose other than keep the bar in place and keeping it off the paint. the tape might be a special water resistant tape to keep the water channeled down toward the windshield. if anyone knows where i can find replacement tape or if normal tape will would, please let me know. perhaps some of you that have done the ttop conversion might know. thanks

 

when i did the conversion i just uses some black rtv under it and around the screw holes.

 

i found some 3m super duty mounting tape. its very close to what came from the factory. however, i've found that rtv on paint will trap moisture and eventually cause the paint to bubble and lead to rust!

 

just use 3m double sided tape and be done with it. lol.

 

it will but with it being under the t bar and not ever being seen then it doesnt matter. plus washing everything down with acetone befor you use the rtv helps. ofcorse this was on my car thats wating to be painted

 

well, if the paint bubbles under the bar or anywhere else then there is a good chance that water will get under that paint and cause the rest of the paint to crack. the reason i have my tbar off is because my paint bubbled and water found its way under that bubbled paint and under my windshield and into my car!!! i had never used silicone either.

 

4 months and counting and all is still good here
