tach wire question?

tach wire question?

I have a 96 Formula, with a gen I small block in it now. I have a HEI distibutor, and want to know if anyone knows how I can hook up the factory tach? do you know what wire to connect to the distibutor? thanks in advance. Brian

anyone??? I want to use the factory tach, someone has to know what wire/wire's to use. shoebox, injuneer, HELP!

you need to find diagram of tach wiring to see how many it uses,if it is one power and one is ground you just hook power from power side of tach to dist.and you should know where ground goes if factory tach uses more than two wires then i'm sorry i can't help

well, you hook the factory tach wire to the tach terminal on the dist.

how do I find the tach wire? and how can I tell which one it is? do I have to pull the dash apart? thanks for the info

first, I assume the OE PCM is removed? is the complete engine harness removed? are the plugs behind the pass. kick panel(that the engine harness connects to) still there?

I still have everything there, it controls my speedometer, Im not sure if I still need the computer or not. I just didnt want to rip it out if I was gonna need it. I am waiting til I get everything all set before I start cutting out wires.

ok

select C230 at the bottom, this connector is located behind the pass side kick panel, use the wire colors to locate the correct connector, it is pin D that you want to use, this is the wire that goes from the PCM to the cluster, I don't know exactly which wire it is at the PCM though, but from this connector, you can either trace it to the PCM, or just cut the wire there and extend it to the Dist.
