Re: T-Top question

i wasnt sure you could make a fbody with a targa...i have a hardtop now...and i wouldnt mind having ttops...but a targa...hmmm. i thought i read somewhere that the bar b/t the two tops is actually needed for support and rigidity. so the body doesnt get all flimsy with the top off...but if it works, i might have to look into that.

Re: T-Top question

T-Tops -- the MUST HAVE item for any F-Body.

As for a targa conversion, I wouldn't do it unless you were adding a targa to what used to be a convertible.

Why? Well, hard top cars and T-top cars are pretty much the same car. Both have the T-bar through the middle. In fact, if you were to peel the skin on a hard top, you would see exactly where to cut through the thin sheet metal to convert your car into a T-Top. Yes, that's right, you can convert your hard top to a T-Top with relative ease (assuming you know what you're doing). Cutting out that T-bar would destroy the balance of the car.

Now, if you were to take a convertible, which is designed without a roof, you could fit a removable roof/targa to it and maintain the chassis rigidity.

These are just my opinions and thoughts. I have no proof to back them up.

Re: T-Top question

The targa top car is whistlers car.

I have seen it in person, the thing its beautiful. I only have one sort of complaint about it. Seems kinda hard to store the top when its not on. Doesn't fit right in the back.

AS for t-tops, I have had 3 hardtop camaros, I wished all of them were t-tops, whats funny the car that has the most value I am going to attempt to put t-tops in. With the help of someone who has done it before. Works out great, found another bad scratch from the hurricane I didn't notice before.

Info on the conversion, and where I am at so far.

Actually was going to buy the rest of the parts I needed this week and get started on it soon but little iffy to blow money on the car, when I got another hurricane coming.

Re: T-Top question

I have a 96 Z with T-tops, and while i love the color scheme (red and black) and think its nifty when i take them off everyonce in awhile. But down in South Texas, with Black leather, the sun does beat down pretty hard, and its nearly hot enough to cook after a long day in an uncovered parking lot. Not to mention mine leak like Niagra.

With that said, if any of yall have some T-top shades for sale, cheap, P.M me.
