T/A and Camaro Gauge Cluster interchange questions.

I am getting a 95 Formula Dash and cluster for my 86 Trans Am.
I am not really fond of the T/A style gauges, I like the 97+ Camaro style since there are those little lines between the numbers on the speedo and tach.

So, anyone know if I can pop a 97+ Camaro cluster into the 95 Formula dash?

Thanks.

I would not think so. The whole housing and everything is different.

Actually, they look the same.
97+ Camaros got the rounder cluster, just like the Firebirds.
This is my 2000 Camaro V6 Cluster that I have,

I want to get a Z28 cluster since it goes to 150mph and so the temp and oil gauges will be correct. I just want to know if they will interchange.

Gauge overlays are an option as well.

Cant get the 95 pic to work. I though the dash styles and everything changed in the 93-96 to 97's. Here are a couple of theards on it though. One says it will work. Will a 97+ dash work Swapping a 97+ dash into a 95z

In the one about 97+ dash in a 95, 95droptopZ, gives the part number of a connector needed to get the wiring working.

OK OK OK. I get what you are saying now. I dont know the Pontiac side of these things real good yet. I know the Camaro dash changed in 97+. I didnt know the T/A dash were pretty much the same thoughout the years. The one thread says it will work. Hope I havent added to much confusion. I was thinking Camaro, when you said T/A.

Good question. I have also asked before but no clear answer. Actually the only difference I know of in the 97 V8 fbodys is the two have different fonts. The same uage overlay will not work for both for this reason. I have thought of swaping out with a 97Z so I could get the overlay I want but thats if I could find a wrecked one. :blah:

Well, I am going to see how my brothers 96 Trans Am cluster looks when compared to my 2000 Camaro cluster.
The Camaro Cluster looks a whole lot nicer than the bland Firebird ones.

Oh, on the back of the Camaro cluster, there is a plug-in for a large connector. That is the only connection on it.
Does someone have a picture of the back of a Firebird Cluster so I don't have to take my brothers out?

Anyone have a picture of the back of a Firebird 93-02 cluster so I can see what it looks like?

The Camaro and T/A gauges use different plugs in the back on the LT1 years i know for sure. I put a 95 T/A dash in my 95 Z28. the HVACs are different and the fog light and Defog are different.

This is an old thread I know, but am I correct in reading that a 94 Firebird cluster will not plug into a 93 Camaro harness?

A 97 Trans Am cluster would fit in fine and work like a charm. It has the bezel separating the different parts of the cluster. It HAS to be from a 97 though. 98+ won't work.

Cool.

An added question, because I am making a custom dash (swapping drivetrain into a different vehicle) and would prefer the smaller footprint of the "rounder" 94 Firebird cluster. Are the plugs the same 94 Pontiac to 93 Chevy?

Guess I should clarify. The cluster swap I was mentioning was Pontiac to Pontiac. I'm not sure if you can do the Pontiac to Chevy or vise versa swap.

As for the plugs, I don't know. I haven't been behind a chevy cluster.
