steering wheel shakes after bigger wheel install
steering wheel shakes after bigger wheel install
ever since i put on a set of 17 inch wheels on my 97 z28, my steering wheel shakes like i have bad rotors from 50mph and up. going under 50mph its fine though. i had new tires put on with balancing, front end alignment done and it still has shaking problems. not comfortable at all. i did a test and put my stock wheels/tires back on and it rides fine with those... no shaking at all. anyone have any idea whats going on?
Re: steering wheel shakes after bigger wheel install
are the lug nuts tight? if they are aluminum wheels,u need to tighten them down, hit them on the sidewall a couple times to make sure they are seated and then go drive it. come back and re-torque the wheels again.
what kind of wheels and tires are they?
i know a mechanic friend of my dad told us that Goodyear have always had problems with their tires being balanced, just by themselves,so of course u can never get the tire/wheel combo balanced properly.
hope that helps
