Steering Wheel Lights
Steering Wheel Lights
Anyone know what exactly makes them light up and where it is? Yesterday the right side went out but the left side is still on. I got half glowing wheel and half not glowing
I just replace both of my steering wheel control bulbs (one in each control) by using instructions on a web site (not Brents but he may have instructions also) after the job was complete I deleted the site from my favorites list. The bulbs are sold at Radio Shack and come in a package of 2 bulbs, part #7219.... Micro Lamp 12 volt - 60mA- Wire-terminal base and cost $ 1.49. I used an L shaped dentist pick to get behind the controllers (not the buttons) and pulled controllers out, then when they are almost out you will run out of wire so now you have to unplug the harness, then pull controller all the way out. Next you have to remove the backing from the controller, snapped in place, you will see where it is snapped in, like 4 places. once contol is apart you will see bulb, a red cover will be on top of bulb, remove it, next is to heat up the solder connections (make sure and be carefull to only apply heat to the bulb connections) once the solder is hot enough you can pull bulb out, but when bulb was hot enough to come out the solder was so wet it filled in the bulb holes, so i heated up a straight pin and pushed through the holes so that new bulb can be installed. Install new bulb and try to use the factory solder, not much is needed but you may need to add some to secure connection. Install the red cover over bulb, it doesnt go over easy, I used silicone lube to put cover on, snap controller back together, lube steering wheel where controller snaps into place (to make it easier to snap in place) plug harness into control, snap control into place onto steering wheel. Hope this helps it worked great for me.
i did it and got nothing of course mine have never worked since ive had the car (lights nor controls) i went underneith to follow the wires and couldnt find anything cutting the current to it.....my hazards make the hazard blinking noise but dont blink on the dash or outside the car i think its related in some way ive made a couple posts about it but apparently no one knows cause they always drop to the bottom.
