SS hood grille insert question?

Is the 98 LS1 style SS hood grille insert the same one as the 96-97 LT1 cars? Reason I ask is beacuse a friend of mine fit his 96 SS grille insert into my 92 ASCD SS hood, now I just need to buy one. I have a GM part number for the LS1 cars, but not the LT1's. Thanks.

I don't know if this will help but when you look at the references on ebaymotors, the inserts are listed for 93-97 or 98-2002. There seems to be no crossover so I would suspect they are not interchangeable.

I didn't post because I am not 100% sure, but I don't believe they are the same. If you look at the scoops they are shaped differently.

Anyone know the GM part # for the 96-97 SS grille? I have the one for the 98 and up. Or anyone know where I could buy one? Thanks for the info!

IIRC, the 96-97 hoods were not a factory part, but added on when the SS conversion was done off site, so there will be no factory part number for it.

Since I had bought an aftermarket SS hood for my 01, I asked Dal about getting the grille insert. Obviously it is not a GM part. None the less, he quoted a price and could have special ordered it. That would make it apparent he had/has access to some part numbers.

To be honest, I just want to get one.
If you really want to get one, there is one place to check.
