squeeking noise
squeeking noise
Ok guys I took my car to the shop this weekend, it was not a performance shop so thats why im kinda iffy on their answer to my problem. Well at an idle my car makes a weird squeek sound that i can't really explain, but while driving it goes away and also this does not happen all the time. The sound is coming from the underneath of my car down by the starter. By the way i have a 1994 Z28. The guy at the shop told me he thinks it my motor going out. The car has been taken very well care of and oil changes done right about on time maybe a few times i was a little late. the car has 94,000 on it right now and it runs perfect other than a big need for a tune up right now which im going to try and get done soon due to money issues. Please fill me in if you think you have any info on my problem
Squeeking is usually associated with the belt/pulleys/AC compressor, or something rubbing...
The Ac compressor is located on the passenger lower side... It might be that??????
Get a second opinion at a different shop....

yeah thats why i asked you guys cause my car runs perfect other than a little rough cause it needs a tune up but i also forgot to add that when i turn on my heater the sound goes away so its gotta be what your saying. Im definitely gonna get another oppinion thanks for the help n2ceptro
There are engine sounds you describe that can be from a serious internal issue. I know if the idle pulley is going out it can make that sound. The water pump leaking and the bearings being worn out will cause a squeel.
Yeah like a rod bearing warning you before it makes its debute.
My 97 done it a couple of times before it blew up. squealed loudly like a worn belt. And I discounted it for such the first time I head it. The knock became evident shortly thereafter.
BTW, I am not saying this is the issue. Dont want to freak anyone out.

when I had a belt squeeking/squealing, i used a little WD-40 on the pulleys and belt to determine the location of the sound by squirting one part at a time until the sound went away (and to rule out any engine issues). dont use the stuff as a quick fix patch though - only for diagnostics
