Re: Speed Speed Speed

Uh, that's kind of a general question, but it depends on the gears in the car........also, there's a good chance it's speed limited to ~115 mph. As well, TPI's are not famous for making top end power, so you're better off keeping it light-to-light.

I don't know what Kentucky has for highway patrol cars, but I know that Florida and California have a few LS1 cars in their fleet! DON'T even TRY to out-run one of them!!!! (hell, I wouldn't either, and I've got an LS1!).

Man, well not to bust your ***** but most people on this board will just ignore your post and think its juvenile. NEVER SPEED FROM THE COPS. You wanna lose your lisence? Doing that is a great way to do it. Crown vics normally take 12 seconds to go from 0-60 your camaro should be in the 6-7 second range depending on mods to reach 60. A camaro with your rear end and i am guessing it came with 3:73's. So prob 140-45 max! More like 120-30 being realistic. Not sure if your car has a govenor. However, if you do go that fast i hope your on a runway not a highway.

Remember you may be able to out run a crown vic from a dig (rated at 220hp) but you can never out run their radio's. Plus if he ever gets your plate # you can run all you want but he is still gunna be waiten for you at your house. Most state troopers have Air support which you cant outrun, high speed interceptors like the b4c camaros some departments even have vettes. Also you will prob never reach top speed since a hw will have traffic lane changes etc. Do your self a favor and dont even concider anything of the sort.

Re: Speed Speed Speed

For 3 years I drove a 100% stock 1988 5.7 Iroc. It had the optional performance rear end ratio (3.27) and it topped out at about 125. It took it a long time to get there, too because of the already mentioned crappy top end on the TPI. Also, at about 110 both side windows would pop out of their seals and the wind would come screaming through the car.

Irocs are not known for top speed in stock trim.

Get a LT1 or LS1 car and you can nail 150.

Why must you go so fast? Are you looking for a Darwin award?

Make sure you get some moon disc hub caps and vinyl flame stickers. And a chain link steering wheel, and Yosemite Sam "back-off" mudflaps.

Then get some temporary tattoos and leave a box of Marlboro reds on the dash.

The police will be in your debt every time you are kind enough to pull over for them, because they know your Iroc camero could had outrun them big time. LOL

[QUOTE=YZF/LS1 Freak]LOL you could never out run their radiosQUOTE]

Me and a friend did once in a WS6... we went wizzing past a flat-top at about 2am, and just stayed in it since we had that much of a run on him already. We heard him call in a black trans am over the scanner (it was actually dark blue). he said we were at the Tx City exit but we were quite a few past it already, so we exited with the quickness and floored it to a friends house that I hadnt seen in a while, talk about a reason to stop by.. We ended up getting drunk (helped to calm the nerves after that "getaway") and staying the night. But that car never saw anything
over speed limit for a long time after that.

Ahh, that story dosen't help the situation much, u got lucky plain and simple, i'm sure most cars on here will be faster than a cop car but if you run for the poliece you need to be willing to lose your liscence, get a huge fine and possibly spend a night in jail. To me it is not worth it at all.

LOL we were wondering if anyone would get that lol.

Not to long ago I got on a back road that is flat and straight, looked for cops and hit it at about 3/4 throttle. I never looked back at the off ramp and there was a cop there. He pulled me over after I slowed down for him and he said he was at WOT and I was still pulling away but I am not bone stock (no I did not get a ticket or anything) and my car right now I bet would tap 150mph, my old 86 camaro would maybe do 115 and it would take FOREVER to get it there. In my car shifting into third I am doing 70mph and its still pulling hard if that tells you anything about the comparison of a TPI car to a LT1 car.

Lightbulb Re: Speed Speed Speed

I have noticed that not a word has been said about death? Either your own life or someone you don't even know. I can't say I have never done anything stupid because I have done my share. But would like to say I have a friend that tried that same thing on a bike(ninja). He hit a car going around 50 mph. after trying to stop. He wont try that again because he can't ride a bike anymore. He can't move from the waist down. Some of you will get lucky time to time but for the most of you who try that will end up without a lic, or in jail, or worse dead Just a thought...

Re: Speed Speed Speed
