So how many of you bent the fender tabs on the bottom of the car?
I finally did it today - drive over a curb stop. Not bad though - just the edge of the passenger side tab was bent a little. I unbolted the fender and bent it back. Man, did I feel dumb.

Not while driving - but did a number on the left side while using a 4 pt lift to raise the car to change the oil though - and I knew better, just wasn't careful.

No need to unbolt, just get a block of wood, and hammer the tab back to vertical.

What are you guys talking about? The supposed "jack points" of the car?
|
Re: So how many of you bent the fender tabs on the bottom of the car?
Well, it's the "do not jack" tab of metal that front fender bolts to under the car.

Mine are bent as well. The fenders stick out like a half inch or something. Cound i put a crecent wrench right on the bolts and bend it back? or does hitting it work the best?

I just used channel lock pliers and fixed it. It's really thin, so it's very easy to bend.

one of mine is bent from driving over a curb in a lowered car. ouch. my jack points suck. they are bent.

Re: So how many of you bent the fender tabs on the bottom of the car?
What are the chances of the metal breaking? mine has been bent and put back in place once before (dont ask). Should i use my best judgement?

Re: So how many of you bent the fender tabs on the bottom of the car?
I don't think it will break, but be careful anyway. If it's not that bad, you could just leave it as it is.

Re: So how many of you bent the fender tabs on the bottom of the car?
the sides of the fenders stick out horizontally on the side of the car from it. its hideous, need to fix it bad.

Re: So how many of you bent the fender tabs on the bottom of the car?
You should always use your best judgement :p . But seriously, if it does break, it wouldn't be hard to tack weld it back on.

Re: So how many of you bent the fender tabs on the bottom of the car?
Some moron that owned the car fore i did decided thatd be a good point to use the jack. I used vice grips on mine enough to get a small grip then gently pryed it back flush. The fenders are plastic so now only one bolt it holding it on as the other cracked. Just be careful and go slow and you shouldnt have a problem.
