Anyway im lookin around on the internet and find a 94 camaro z28 A4 with 78,000 miles with a blown head gasket for 1500...guy really needs to get rid of it and its only a few towns over...the whole engine is dismantled and he has everything labled even the bags with all the bolts...i have my own lift so things shouldnt be too hard but my only questions are one is it a good deal? and 2 how hard can a head gasket be...like i said i have my own lift and a bunch of friends who are willing to help me. Im thinkin about offering him 1000 and seeing if he will take it.

 

it shouldent be that hard to change a head gasket. you have to take the manifold off though. for 1500$ it might not be a bad deal

 

The whole engine is dismantled? Why would he take the whole engine apart for just a head gasket?

If it's just the heads that are off, it might not be a bad deal. If he really wants to get rid of it, try $1k and see if he bites.

If the pistons and all are already out, you might as well plan on a full rebuild with about $5k in parts because that's what everyone here will talk you into.

 

from the way he made it sound its the whole top end of the motor is taken off...i dont believe its just down to a bare block but if thats the case ill pry pass...still waiting on a reply from him so ill pry know by the end of today.
