When I shift my car out of park, the center concole around the shifter raises anywhere from 1/2" to 1". I was wondering if there could be something wrong with the linkage? Once its out of park, it shifts fine, and moves freely. Anybody have any ideas?

 

Take out the console and look for broken plastic parts underneath. Keep a tube of superglue or plastic epoxy handy.
